Gerald Fernandes (75), Proprietor of Coastal Cashew Trading Co. and former president of SACAA (St Aloysius College Alumni Association), husband of Elveera Fernandes, father of Sandra (+ Dionysius), Marina (+ Ronald), Susan (+ Albert) and Preetha (+ Sammy), grandfather of Calvin, Darren, Athena, Sanchia, Tanisha, Jason and Sheldon, passed away on Saturday April 12, 2008.

Funeral cortege leaves residence ‘Sandrilla’, near Kadri Toll Gate on Monday April 14 at 3.15 pm for St Sebastian’s Church, Bendur, Mangalore. Mass at 3.30 pm.

Gerald Fernandes retired on May 31, 2004 as president of SACAA. At the time of retiring, he became the only president in the history of SACAA, to have served in that capacity thrice. He was also the president of Kodialbail Sodality twice, during which, along with the then Fr Rector, he built the Catholic Centre at Hampankatta, Mangalore. He completed 50 years of service as the president of St Vincent de Paul Society, Bendur. During his tenure of 50 years, he was elected president of SVP and served the Society for 10 years. He was responsible for building 36 cottages at Premnagar on a plot of land donated by the late Bishop. He was the member of Parish Council Finance Committee of St Sebastian Church, Bendur.
