Ray was a rare personality of varied tastes and interests. He was a skilful hobby photographer, with an aesthetic sense. His house in Falnir has been a repository of music collection, vintage cars, cameras, gramophone records, radios, postage stamps and coins, and old gadgets and appliances. He is said to have recently donated a part of his collections to his alma mater, St Aloysius College.
