Sr Monica was as a member of Jyothi Nilaya Community, Bangalore. She belongs to St Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Udupi Diocese. She has a twin sister, Sr Prathima Fernandes who belongs to Bethany Congregation and serves in Easten Province and a brother Fr Rosario Fernandes who belongs to Udupi Diocese.
