Valerine James D'Silva (88), husband of Genevieve, father of Vinay & Ajit, father-in-law of Delina, grandfather of Megan, brother of Nancy Pereira, Marie Pinto & the late Mabel Mascarenhas, passed away on December 24, 2023.

Funeral on Wednesday, December 27 at 5.00 pm in St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia, Mangalore.

Our heartfelt condolences to Ginny, Ajit and Vinay and their families. May Jamie (as we called him) restin eternal peace. My condolences also to the surviving sisters Nancy and Marie who I had known from their childhood. But have lost touch in the 76 years that I left Mangalore. I have known Jamie from the time he was a little boy as his mother is my mother's cousin and lived in Kadri not too far away. When he worked in Colgate Palmolive in Bombay he used to visit us in Mahim, but that was 64 years ago when I left India. Recemtly, about 9 years ago my wife Clareen and I visited him and his family (his wife Ginny and son who had a small workshop (Ajit or Vinay, I don't remember the name), and Ginny's mother in their Valencia home along with his cousin Volly (who passed away last year). Mr D' Silva was well known as he was running a two wheeler repairs center behind Valencia park about 25 years ago. He was friendly and meticulous. He used to stop by and speak to me while on his walk on Valencia road with his walking stick till a few months ago. I feel sad that he is no more. My heartfelt condolences to his family members. May his soul rest in peace.
