Winifred Coutinho (90), wife of the late Arthur Coutinho, mother of Medwin / Cherylann and Durwin / Salome, grandmother of Ethan, Sherwin, Danica and Selwin, passed away on October 24, 2023.

Mortal remains will be brought to Devakripa Sr Citizens Home, Bethany Convent, Attavara, Mangalore at 3.00 pm on October 26, 2023. Funeral cortege leaves Bethany Convent at 3.30 pm for Our Lady of Miracles Church, Milagres followed by Mass at 4.00 pm.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our dear Grandma Winnie. Throughout our lives, Grandma Winnie always showered us with love and tender kindness. My brothers and I will forever cherish the times we have spent with our Grandma Winnie and I will especially always be grateful for the memories made during my visit with Dad last month. As we prepare to bid our final farewell to mum Winnie, we praise and thank God for the precious gift mum has been to us. Mum drew great strength from her faith in the Lord Jesus as she went through life independently. A woman of many unique qualities, someone with inner peace and a constant love for her family. Mum always looked back at her days at Parmeshwar Darshan where we grew up, which had a very special place in her heart. Mum’s personality exhibited beauty, grace, and elegance which she maintained till the very end. We look back at the many memories from the years gone back; visits to Mangalore to spend time with mum, phone, and video calls especially the most recent visit with Danica to celebrate mum’s 90th birthday. The happy memories will be remembered and cherished forever. We continue to pray that God will welcome her into His heavenly kingdom to be united with dad Arthur, the rest of the Coutinho family, her parents, and siblings Aunty Evy and Aunty Matty. Mum, we will miss you dearly. We love you. Rest in peace with the Lord. We’d like to express of most sincere gratitude to the sisters and staff of Devakripa Sr Citizens Home, Bethany Convent for their care for mum for the past 13 years. We thank Ninette and Sylvie for being there for mum always till she breathed her last. Thank you to our family, friends, MFC Community for all your love, prayers and support during our time of sorrow which means a lot to us and has given us strength and filled us with peace. A woman of elegance and grace, of kindness and compassion, my dear Aunt Winnie was an important figure in my early childhood and a constant support to me through all these years...She will be missed... It was so nice to speak to her on the day she celebrated her 90th birthday - she was alert and happy, grateful for all she had received with a quiet contentment... God bless all those who cared for her in the evening of her life... My deepest sympathies to my dear cousins Medwin and Durwin and their families...and to all the many people whos lives she touched... May she rest in the Lord's eternal peace. A woman of grace and faith has gone back to her Maker today... My growing up years in PD will always be registered as days of learning and growth where with the trees in our compound we also were nourished by the care and concern of so many of our neighbours and Aunty Winnie was one of them... If Uncle Arthur organised stuff to get us all enthused to enjoy barbecues and games, Aunty Winnie was the silent enthusiast who encouraged the initiatives... Her prayer life was reflected in her outreach to all....Medwin and Durwin, you have Dad and Mum watching the legacy you create with your lives and family... With the numerous memories that made us at PD enjoy the days, months and years, you guys have your intercessors with the Lord and the opportunity to make your own memories with the richness of what mum always offered to the world..
