Mark Rodrigues (80), husband of Loretta Rodrigues, father of Osbert Rodrigues and Denzil Rodrigues, son of the late Ignatuis and Christine Rodrigues (Taccode), brother of Hilary / Florine, John / Matilda, Hilda / John Dias and Sr Christopher BS (Treeza), passed away on August 22, 2023.

Visitation services on Monday, August 28 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 6150 N Cicero Ave, Chicago.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 29 at 10:00 am in St Padre Pio Parish (formerly St. Hilary's) 5600 N Fairfield Ave, Chicago. Mark will be laid to rest at Mary Hill Cemetery 8600 Milwaukee Ave, Niles.

Dear Loretta, I am deeply saddened hear about the sudden death of Marku (as I called him). My heartfelt condolences to you and the family. You are in my prayers. Marku was a good friend of mine from the year 2004 when I met him the first time and drove me to his house where I met you dear Loretta. And both of you accepted me as your own. Every time I happened to be in Chicago, Marku would come to meet me at our SVD Residence at Techny, Chicago and offered himself to take me wherever I wished to go and also take me to his house where sat and relaxed chatting with each oter. Shared delicious meals prepared by Loretta. He was active, very hospitable, kind, loving and a prayerful man. I will definitely miss him. Thank you Marku for your love and friendship. May the Lord welcome you into His eternal Kingdom and crown you with the glory in the company of Saints and Angels. Please intercede for you beloved Loretta and your sons and family. We will meet you one day in heaven our eternal home.

Dear Loretta, Denzel, Osbert, and family, We are all saddened to hear of the passing of Mark . He was helpful to our mother, Regina, during her visits to Chicago and kept in touch with her over the phone for the past few decades. Mark and Loretta spoke to me 4 years ago after my mother's passing and Mark advised me to post her obituary in Daijiworld. We received a call from Denzil at this time as well. We are very saddened to know the sudden passing of our friend Mark. We met him through the Mangalorean Konkan Christian Association, (MKCA) Chicago. Our friendship of 20 years, has been full of great things and cherished memories that will remain forever! Mark was a jovial and generous person and easily connects with people. When we were in Chicago, we had numerous parties, MKCA meetings and social events. Although currently we are miles away from each other, we had frequent conversations and chats that has left me heartbroken as I will not find another friend like Mark to speak with! Mark’s dignified looks and his wife Loretta’s cheerful smile are always memorable to us. During the last few months of his treatments he was always asking for my guidance and advice in personal matters. We almost shared a brotherly friendship! Just hours before his last visit to the hospital for relatively minor illness, I recall him telling me that “Larry, this time I cannot make it.” and I told him “Mark, please keep quiet and listen to me, you are going to be alright and you will live for 100 years”. That was our last conversation. Yes, looks like he listened to me and decided to be quiet permanently! So sad. He has left an empty space that no one can fill in. Sad but true, he is above Resting in Peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Loretta, Osbert and Denzil. May his soul Rest In eternal Peace. -Larry, Edna, Luella and Leonard
