You teaching was not just about mastering the piano but developing one's full potential to be confident in presentation, elocution, performing and excelling. There was love and compassion mixed with the strictest discipline. I am sure every pupil of yours will reckon with this. You brought out the best talent in us. Even though we may not have wholly seen it then , I deeply appreciate you for helping me reach my best in music. Remembering you with fondness and love. You were the first to my recall to have brought the concept of western classic musicals and drama to Mangalore. Ever grateful to you for your magnanimous contribution to the art of music. Your talents weren't limited to music alone but also in culinary skills. I didnt understand then why I needed to learn the art of cookery when my reason to learn from you was music. Heartfelt condolences to the family. From going to Aunty Vimala’s house for piano exams (when I was absolutely terrified of her) and then later acting, singing, dancing in her major productions (when I learned of her heart of gold), she was so much a part of my life when growing up in Mangalore. Hers were also the first cooking classes that I attended when I was in high school and she opened my eyes to a world of soufflés and choux pastry. Aunty Vimala touched so many young lives and moulded us and our personalities to such a large extent. May her soul Rest In Peace.

Aunty Vimala was Mangalore’s talent - one of a kind and very special. She was hard working , kind and generous. She went the extra mile and exposed us to so many different things & discipline. We have a zillion fond memories & strong friendship bonds thanks to her. All our birthday cakes were baked by Aunty Vimala. She filled our hearts & homes with music. “Songs of yesterday years” was definitely my fav memory too. I am so glad my sister Vanitha & I visited her a few years ago and told her how much we are grateful to her for what she did for us. I still remember her smiling with pride and saying “ I’m so happy you feel that way “ You & your music will be forever remembered and loved dearest Aunty Vimala. An exemplary lady who was good at music etc. Many in Mangalore have gained and developed their hidden talents (including mine I should admit ) participating in her plays either in music, dance & drama. It was an opportunity & blessing in disguise to be in her plays. One such play she organized in Mangalore which I recall was "Yours mine & ours". Many talents have come to the fore and been nurtured to their complete potential. Mangalore has indeed lost an irreplaceable, affectionate lady musician. Many of her students have reached great heights. Her contempary's were Late Weltha master, Late O.S. Neethi and Denzil Karkeda , Fr, Walter Albuquerque etc who were also famous musicians of Mangalore. The void left behind will be hard to fill. We offer our condolences to her family.
