Undoubtedly, we all know that the pioneering work is never easy and Ms Grace Noronha the founder Principal had no simple task before her.  She has worked with dedication and commitment and has thrown heart and soul into this school.  All the preliminary work needed for a new school was handled by her under the guidance of Rev Fr Bernard L D’Souza, since January 1999.  Eventually, LCS was founded

Principal Ms Grace Noronha

on 2 June 1999 with a record strength of 230 students, made its humble beginning on the first floor of the church commercial complex with the Kindergarten section and Classes I and II.  Ms Grace Noronha, who took over charge as the first Principal of the school, has a proven   track record

of experience in teaching, starting right from Kindergarten to College of Education in and outside India.  She was instrumental in the formation of the school by laying a sound

academic base to the school.  A strict disciplinarian as she is, has maintained a high standard of quality and value - based education and has also given great encouragement to the field of sports and extra curricular activities.  She realized ‘Handwriting as the mirror to one’s personality’ and to keep abreast with the modern trends, she introduced Italic handwriting in the school right from its inception.  Teachers are trained from time to time to pass on the skill to students.  All students follow the Italic handwriting at Lourdes Central School.  She knows the strength and weakness of every student and taps the potential in them successfully.  Her qualities of kindness and concern towards the staff and students and dedication and sincerity in her profession make an indelible impression and a perfect example to emulate.  Through her the school has experienced excellent public relations with both parents and students.

The first batch of teaching staff consisted of Ms Joy Rai, Ms Belita Mascarenhas, Ms Vinet Menezes, Ms Supriya, Ms Vimala Monteiro, Ms Grace Roche, Ms Lydia D’Souza, Ms Shirley Sequeira, Ms Jane Sequeira and Ms Jacintha Vincent, has done a lot for the school during the early stages.  A special mention is to be made of Ms Joy Rai, Trained Graduate teacher who has fully supported the Principal in planning the projects and other activities of the school.  The other faculty who are appointed from time to time, assist the Principal efficiently with their special skills and techniques of teaching.  The office work was promptly done by Ms Saira D’Souza, the ancillary staff Ms Regina, Philomena Pereira and Mr Philip Baretto have also extended their full support to the faculty.  Lourdes Central School recognizes the selfless, devoted and committed work, of all the staff who shoulder their responsibilities diligently, be it big or small, has made this school what it is today.

The growth of this institution stands out significantly as we realize that from a small beginning, we moved into a newly built three storeyed building, in June 2000.  This new building has spacious class - rooms, library, computer lab and provision for science laboratories.  Children have space for playground as well.  The school buzzing with activities and academics continued with the Principalship of Mrs Grace Noronha, the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff till 2003 under the guidance and blessings of the founder and correspondent Rev Fr Bernard L D’Souza.  Then in 2003 May, he was transferred to Thannirbhavi as Parish Priest.

Once the building was ready, Fr J P Tauro set his eyes on equipping the Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, and also furnishing and adding number of books to the Library, bear ample testimony to his efficiency and zeal.  He has also provided intercom system to the whole school.  His concern for the tiny tots of LCS to have an independent building away from the main building has made Fr J P Tauro undertake KG block, which will be completed by October 2007.

Realizing the support and cooperation extended by the parents, Fr J P Tauro, Correspondent , LCS began the PTA in the school in July 2003.  Since then the PTA has been working hand in hand with the school.  PTA has celebrated Teachers day and also organized fund raising programme and the fund collected was used for the school development.  The first PTA President Mrs Giselle Mehta Mrs Ashwini Punja, President of the PTA, for the year 2004 – 2005, Third President of PTA Mr Edward Lewis for the year 2005 – 2006, Fourth President of PTA Mr Pratham Bhandary for the year 2006 – 2007, Fifth President of PTA Mr Vivian Sequeira for the year 2007 – 2008.
