" I have been an instrument in the hands of the Lord, in order to offer this Brahmarat as desired by all devotees to Sri Mahalingeshwara. I request all of you, to attend this religious programme."
- The Brahmarat is 71 feet in height, about 40,000 kilograms of rosewood, teakwood and other varieties of long-lasting wood has been used that works out to a total of 2,200 square feet of wood.
- Nineteen tons of metal has gone in its making. It has six large wheels. It’s top has been covered fully while it is estimated that the Rath will last for about 500 – 600 years.
- Modern technology has been used in steering the Rath to a set path.
- Twelve beams support the Rath that is erected on solid block of wood.
- The beams are artistically carved with various deities such as Nandi, Shivaling, crocodile, lion, king cobra, Ganapati, centaur, Shiva, Rudrakshi and others.
- It has been built at a cost of Rs 1 crore.
- It is the tallest of Rath or temple on wheels, in the entire coastal Karnataka.
The offering ceremony of Brahmarat that has been donated by
N Muttappa Rai Derla and family
to
Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Puttur
will be held at 10.05 am on Monday March 22.
The Vedic rites will be performed under the leadership of Brahmashree Kuntar Ravisha Tantri.
