Department of Physiotherapy

Welcome to Department of Physiotherapy, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore (A Constituent College of Manipal University).

The Department of Physiotherapy of KMC, Mangalore conducts a 4 ½ years BPT program. The intake of students is 50 per batch.
The Department is also conducting the Master's program in Physiotherapy and is offering 4 specialty i.e. MPT in Neuroscience, MPT in Musculoskeletal , MPT in Cardio respiratory & MPT in Community Based Rehabilitation. This is a 2 year Program and the total intake is 20.

LAB TEACHING

Facilities

· The Department has well equipped Air condition class rooms and laboratory with audio visual facilities.

· The Department has all the basic and specialized equipment required for Physiotherapy treatment and research at Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Attavar and Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, Mangalore.

· The Department at Center for Basic Sciences at Bejai has a specialized Neuro-Sensory Developmental Therapy Unit as part of the Child Guidance Clinic, which is exclusively and extensively used to treat children with Developmental problems.

A wide variety of patients are treated both on first contact basis as well as through referrals from Medical, Surgical and Super specialty units such as Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Cardio Thoracic Surgery etc.

FITNESS TRAINING

Research

The post graduate students are involved in quality research under the guidance of dedicated faculty. The department has all the facilities required for the research. Several faculty members are doing their Ph.D.
