From Naveen D’Costa

Alphonse D’Costa (72), transport operator, a resident of Mannagudda in Urwa, Mangalore, expired of heart failure on Tuesday, July 26 night.

D’Costa, familiar to his friends and relatives as Appi and also with the nickname 'Dubbus’ in the transport sector, is survived by his wife Winnie D’Costa, retired headmistress. He also leaves behind two sons Naveen/Jacintha D’Costa and Manoj/Milli D’Costa. He had a daughter late Nirmala D’Souza. He had six grand-children.

D’Costa, who was born in Bajpe on October 5, 1938, met with a major truck accident near Vellore in Tamil Nadu 22 years ago on August 3 in 1989.

The funeral cortege leaves the residence at 3.30 pm on Thursday (July 28) and will be followed with a Mass at Pompei Church, Urwa, at 4 pm.
