Sr. Marie Emmanuel, (88), Sacred Heart Monastery, Kankanady, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

Born on 4/10/1923, Sr Marie Emmanuel, a native of Goa, made her religious commitment on 8/9/1949. She spent her religious life at Sacred Heart Monastery (Cloistered Carmel). Being pious and devout she spent her time in prayer. She also occupied herself in stitching and painting. She had been loved by all the community sisters at Carmel.

The mortal remains will be placed for public homage on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 1:30 pm at Sacred Heart Monastery, Kankanady. The Funeral Mass will be at 4:00 pm.

Sr. Mary Emmanuel was so affectionate, gentle in her talk. She was really a Saint in that Cloister Carmel. She shared her wisdom that Almighty God had given her. May her soul rest in peace. Sisters, we are also with you at this time of sorrow.

Sr. Marie Emmanuel was a great hidden saint in Cloistered Carmel Mangalore. She was always present with a smile, a sign of heavenly contentment in her heart. She always talked politely and lived a life of austerity and prayer. She was a person of silence and few words. The community has lost a great person, but heaven has gained. Hearty condolences to all the community members of Cloistered Carmel who virtually give out a great sense of peace and joy to all those who visit them.
