Maurice Pinto (86), born in Beltangady, husband of Gracy Pinto, father of Edward Pinto, Late Mathilda D’Souza, Wilfred Pinto, Molly Mendonsa, Alfred Pinto, Joslyn Miranda, Vincent Pinto, Rene Roach and Diana Raaj, passed away on Saturday January 9, 2010.

Funeral will be held in Bangalore on Sunday January 10.

Dear Ana grandpa ! being my grand father from the time i was born till this 17th year i live makes me realise that if it wasnt for u i wud not be in this world and i thank God for sending such an angel like u to be down here on earth and give the very gift of life to my mum and so i am born as well :) ! i just want u to know that u were an amazing grandfather to me even though we never spoke so much i knew u loved me from the bottom of ure heart just as u did for all ure daughters ! I still feel ure presence here in ure house as i walk around and see the things that belong to u... ! the feeling of watching granny cry dosent lighten anybody but im sure ure holding her hand even as she is now alone i know ure happy coz uve gone back to an awesome place called heaven God's own house and i know ur watching us in everything we do and say and ure gonna be our guide and thats what i love about u ! i miss u alot and ill never ever even try to foget u or ure presence !

Aana, you are my loving Grandpa...the only grandpa I had growing up. Now that you are gone, I have no grandpas that are alive. I have so many memories of when I saw you in 2007. I feel like you're still alive. I will always remember you in my heart. I will miss you a lot but I know you are watching me, up in heaven. Seeing you was my wish. I also said I wanted to see you again, but that won't happen now cause you are safe with God. We wanted to be there for your funeral but we couldn't make it. We appreciate all that you have done for us. We will always miss you. I have a lot more feelings which I cannot put here, but I love you and I will always will. I miss you and remember you. You always called me 'ma' on the phone. I remember teaching you how to sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' when I was with you. I love you Aan.

Aana you were my grandpa, the only grandpa I met and had growing up. Even though you lived half way around the world it was like you were right next to me when I needed you. I remember when I came to visit in 1999 and you would give me Maggie noodles for breakfast and watch Popeye with me. You would always play with me. When I came in 2007 you let me sleep on your shoulder all the way to Mangalore. I will never forget the moments I spent with you. I will especially remember the phone calls, when I would be screaming in the phone for you to hear me :) I really am thankful to have such a great grandpa. I was lucky to have you as a part of my life. Words cannot explain how I feel about you and how you have impacted my life. Mom always talks about you when she scolds us. The funny stories and memories you made with her, she really loves and appreciates everything you have done for her just like all your other children and your grandchildren. Thank you Aan, you are the best grandpa anyone could ask for. I love you and I miss you more than you can imagine.

My Dearest Aana, You were there ever since my birth. I always remember you watching Doordarshan news while you lived in 57-H, Pocket 4, Mayur Vihar. Had it not been for you I would never have had joined the church youth group. You bought that registration form for me and urged me to join the group. I am unable to accept this period in my life without you around. Feels strange. I remember the last time I met you in July 2009 and asked you who amongst your 9 children gave you a hard time in their childhood...and you so sweetly, nostagically, answered - all my children were wonderful... This space is not enough to write what I feel about you..but I know that you are now with Jesus...in heaven enjoying the glory of our Lord...you are now at peace. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I love you darling Aana...You were the best grandpa I had and the sweetest great grandpa that Erica had. I hope to meet you in heaven again.

25 years ago I lost my dad and ever since you have been the father figure in my life. We shared happy moments together. Memories of doing things with you back in Delhi...going on my bike to pay bills, etc. are still fresh in my mind. Even during our last time together in August 2007, I remember the smile and happiness on your face when we made that trip to Belthangady and Mangalore. Those moments we shared will be relived over and over again. You will be alive in our thoughts. For us you have just gone on a long vacation and we will see you again. Till then...we will love, cherish and miss you every day of our lives. We love you Aan.
