Walter Gonsalves (70), husband of Theresa Gonsalves, father of Wilson (Wills Studio & Video), Mavis / Godwin, Janet and Wilma, passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2009.

Funeral cortege leaves residence ‘Geo Luc’ Arthill House, Panakaje for Sacred Heart Church, Madanthyar on Thursday June 4 at 3.30 pm.

Dear Aunty, Mavis, Janet, Wilson and Wilma. Though so many years have passed since our last family trip to India, I have this vivid memory of Uncle Walty that never fades: Despite Uncle''''''''s many warnings to be careful and cautious as we crossed the old bridge made of logs and found our way through the narrow paths throughout the property, my adventurous,little brother continued to run well ahead of us until a misstep landed him in the rice fields. I thought we had lost him for sure and I had no idea how I would explain this to my parents. I didn''''''''t have to think about this long though, because in one swift, agile movement, Uncle Walty had fished him back up again. This experience has forever shaped my image of Uncle Walty as a strong, fearless and caring protector. Now that I am older, I am not sure that I correctly assessed the danger of the rice fields, but I know that I was right about my Uncle Walty. I regret that Clayton and I will never again walk with him in the same way, and that Shannan & Jaidyn will not have the honour of knowing him, but I am thankful for this memory. Rest in peace, Uncle. God bless you all.
