Mangalore: Music Teacher Patric Carlo (mirniam) No more

Mangalore, Jul 23: Patric Carlo(81), who worked for 62 long years at the Bishop's House here as sacristan and music teacher, expired at Father Muller's Hopital in the city on Wednesday, July 23 after a brief illness.

Carlo, born as the eldest of the three children of Rozario and Aphrogena Carlo on March 9, 1927 at Agrar, came to Bishop's House in the year 1946. During his stay there, he served under the directions of five bishops of Mangalore diocese, prviding musical training to hundreds of people.

Patric Carlo was adept at playing melodious music through various musical instruments. He had learnt the skill of making and repairing hormonium and pedal organs. He made several musical instruments on his own and repaired them too. Carlo was credited with training many renowned artists including Apolinaris D'Souza, Joel Pereira, Alwyn D'Cunha (Valli Derebail), Vincent Monteiro (music teacher Ashok Nagar), late Bennet Pinto etc.,

Considering the services Carlo rendered to the field of music, The Academy of Music Sciences honoured him. He expresed his multi-faceted talent as a poet and writer too. Several of his poems were published in periodicals like Rakno, Mitr, Amchi Mai Konkani etc., He had special mastery over western music.

Eucharist will be orgnised at 12 noon on Thursday, July 24 at the Bishop's House, to pay tributes to him. Final rites will be conducted at the Agrar church at 3.30 pm on the same day.

Thank you Daiji for your write up. We would like more news on his funeral and some photos too. I grew up going to Bishop's house, Kodialbail for Mass and as such know him very well.

Sorry to hear mirinam's sad demise. I met him my last vacation during June 2008. May God rest his soul in peace, I pray in a special manner and express my condolences to his dear and near ones, It is a big loss for the Kodialbail Chapell

Mr. Patrick Carlo was a God fearing person, Humble qualities, He had good voice for singing, cheerful person, was able to advise people when they were in hardships and difficulties, I know him for the last 30 years ors, He was a good Sodalist at Kodialbai, Four Bishops and many priest have come and gone in his presence, May God rest his soul in peace, I pray in a special manner.and express my condolences to his dear and near ones, It is a big loss for the KodialbaIL cHAPEL AS HE HAD TAKEN CARE OF ITS REVOTIONAL ACTIVITIES SINCE MANY TYEArs. Sorry to note the demise of Partick Carlo (mirnium). He was a man of virtues and talents. He who trained us alterboys while we were in Codiailbail. Heartily very kind and extended his hand of help whomever he came across. We pray that his sould may rest in peace.

Patrick Carlo is our daiji and we were born in the same wado. Before I went to Gulf, I used to visit him frequently at Bishops House and without fail he used to give me lot of tips on music. He has built a pedal organ for our church also and is being used regularly during the Sunday masses. While we are feeling happy that he has joined the hevenly choir, we surely miss him here. May his soul rest in peace.

My heartfelt sympathy to all the family members and also to all the musicians.My grandpa served in Bishop's house as choir master for many years & now He is in GOD'S House rendering the same service for ever and ever.WE are proud of you.May your soul rest in peace .Coming home... I was indeed saddened to learn about the demise of Patrick Carlo. He taught me Organ for three years in the Bishop's House, Kodialbail without taking anything in return. A down to earth humble man, he will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Thanks to Daijiworld for the prompt announcement on the demise of A Very Very Very great yet Humble Musician who presided on the Organ at the Bishop's House for many many a years (and so too in other churches accompanying the choirs)...and during my childhood and growing days... I felt he was more of a saint than a mere human...... While I would like to join greats like Fr.Walter Albuqurque, Fr.Fred, Apoline (Muscat), and Cyprian Vas of Milagres to pray that His Soul rest in peace, perhaps in a way he may not rest at all eternally for the Choirs of the Angels will certainly need him to accompany them for all eternity singing "Gloria In Ex Chelsis"
