Sr Marie Celine (90) of the Holy Face (Cynthia Pinto), a member of the Cloistered Carmel Kankanady, Mangalore, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Mortal remains will be kept for public viewing on Saturday, July 4 from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm in Cloistered Carmel Monastery Chapel, Kankanady, Mangalore, followed by Mass at 4.00 pm.

Born on January 12, 1936, Sr Marie Celine embraced the Carmelite vocation and made her First Profession on November 21, 1961. She dedicated several decades of her life to contemplative prayer and religious service.

Over the years, she served as the Prioress and Novice Mistress, contributing significantly to the formation of young sisters and the spiritual life of the Carmelite community.

With deep sorrow we heard about passing of our beloved Sr .Marie Celine -our dear Cynthy aunty. We thank God for her life of prayer love n quiet sacrifice. She held a special place in our hearts.As children my sister Rita n I were blessed with her warmth stories n affection. Though we r 70+ now but will still remember the childhood visits- how she would slip us small Jesus pictures n medals through the convent parlor with so much love.Even in her cloister life her love reached us.whenever we visited her she used to ask my husband Harry koso asai ba.? Still it echoes in my ears.Rest in peace aunty.ur blessings r still with us..our prayers r with cloister community
