Fr Antony D’Souza (74), son of the late Thomas and the late Philomin D’Souza, brother of the late Philip, Jerome, the late Sr Bridgit D’Souza and the late Sr Reeta D’Souza, passed away on Monday, October 15 at 1 am.

Born at Sastan, Udupi district, Fr Antony D’Souza served in the parishes of Ghatkopar, Borivli, Mahim and Sewri.

Funeral details will be announced later.

Latest Updates on Fr. Antony's Funeral: For 2 days nuns & priest prayed for Fr. continously along with some family members. Fr.'s niece's Maria (Kuwait) & Mable (Jogeshwary) where present along with nuns. He breathed his last on 15th morning at 12.50am. (just a day before on 14th his Grand child Tania D'Souza took her 1st Holy communion at st. Antony's church, Sasthan, he hold his breath untill the Ceremony was over) Before he died he called Jesus many a times and asked nuns to pray more & more. His 16 family members from Mabukal Mabukal arrived to clergy home at 8.20am along with Mrs. Victoria D'Souza Wife of eldest brother Late. Mr. Philip D'Souza. His brother Mr. Jerome D'Souza along with his wife reached a day before. It was pleasure to see whole D'Souza Family over there. Funeral Cortege left 'Clergy Home'on 17th at exact 8.30am after prayers at Clergy Home where Fr. Antony was nicely taken care. We the D'Souza Family are thankful to Clergy Home priest & nuns for the same. Fr. Antony's Family members & relatives took his body in procession to St. Andrew's church. Holy Mass started at exact 9.00am, His lordship Bishop Percy & Bishop Ferdy celebrated the holy mass along with 50 Priests some of them where his relatives (Fr. Valerian D'Silva & Fr. Rudolf Crasta)and some of them where from native parish Sasthan,( Fr. Vinay Lewis & Fr. Rocky Banz) Lots of nuns attended the funeral along with around 1000 friends & relatives where present, church was Packed with huge crowd. Bishop Percy, who has taken good care of Fr. Antony throught his illness, gave a brief testimony of Fr. Antony's service in the diocese of Bombay since last 40 yrs. Mr. Stany Rebello gave condolence speech and thanked every one including priests, nuns along with Doctors who has taken good care of him. Fr. Antony's Parents Mr. Thomas D'Souza & Mrs. Philomena Rebello where blessed by then Pope with Benemerenthy Papal Golden Award, because out of 6 children 2 of her sons where priests and 2 of their daughters where Nuns. Another 2 sons got married. After the mass his body was taken by priests to cemetry and was cremated in the middle of the cemetry. It was a grand ceremony on wednesday, every one payed their last tribute to Fr. Antony for his service to the comunity. Here by I like to Thank Our Lordship for taking care of Fr. Antony in a exceptional way during his illness. This shows how much he cares for the priest after their retirement, We never expected such a nice treatment, Thank you Bishop Percy for the same. We will never forget your kind words of condolence & your help during his illness. Classmate & family friend Ex. Mumbai Police commissioner & RAW chief Mr. Rony Mendonsa too attended the funeral.
