FR Jacob Santan Crasta, retired priest of the diocese of Mangalore passed away on Friday September 28 at Fr Muller Hospital, Mangalore.

Funeral Mass will be held on Sunday September 30 at 4.00 p.m. at Little Flower Church , Kemman.

He was born on July 26, 1925 in Kemman and ordained priest on April 7, 1953. He had served as Assistant Parish Priest at Omzoor, Shirva and Urva parishes; served as Chaplain in Permude; served as parish priest in Bajal, Sastan, Piusnagar, Udupi, Kundapur and Kallianpur Mount Rosary parishes. He took retirement from active priestly service on health grounds on May 26, 1995 and spent his quiet retired life in Vianney Home, Mangalore.

Late Fr. Crasta served Kota Chapel while he was Parish Priest at Sastan. Parishioners of Kota are grateful to him and pray God grant his soul eternal peace.

I have no words how to express my grief. He knew me when I was a toddler. Whenever he used to visit Barkur Parish, he used to make it a point to visit us and his wit and humor is still fresh in my memory. In spite of his busy schedule while he was parish priest of Kundapuur, kindly consented to solemnize my wedding. When I shifted from Barkur to Attavar, Mangalore he was my nearest neighbour and it was a sheer joy to talk and spend time with him during my visits. I miss you uncle Crasto. I wanted to visit you this coming December but God willed it the other way. Bless me and my family. I convey my deepest heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Crasto family members. Let us pray to the Lord to grant him eternal rest. May his soul rest in peace.
