Funeral and viewing will be held on Friday, September 23. The viewing is from 8.00 am to 9.00 am, and the funeral Mass is at 9:30 am local Pacific time at San Carlos Cathedral, The Royal Presidio Chapel in Monterey, CA.

My dearest Aan, Lolly & Jon, Shanthy & Alan, Johanna-Louisa, Stephanie, Monika-Isabel, and Christopher: My heart is breaking that I can't be with at this time of grief for us all and I wish I could have had the chance to kiss my mother's cheek once more. I was taught to pray at my mother's knee, in both Konkani and English, as she prepared me for my First Confession and First Communion. She gave me a gift that has carried me through those times when I didn't think I could carry myself. You could say she has been with me every time I prayed. Today, as she is laid to rest, I pray that we will all find the strength and courage and comfort we need, knowing that is what Mummy — who brought so much comfort and solace to so many — would have wanted. Though illness prevents me from being physically there with you, I stand among you in spirit, united in our love for Mummy, Mai to her grandchildren — whom she took such pride and delight in. Jo, Steph, Monika, and Chris, you made her life complete. Lolly & Shanthy — Mummy told me that, no matter how hard her day had been, coming home and seeing her children's faces was enough to make it all worthwhile. Jon & Alan — thank you for being the sons she always longed for. My Aan, my dearest Aan — you were blessed with a love that lasted more than sixty-six years, a love that was strengthened by hardships and changes, a love that helped you build successful lives and a loving and loved family. The two of you had an equal partnership that few can achieve. You were blessed. May my mother's memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
