Sad to hear the demise of my dear student Santosh, I was his Professor at St.Aloysius College, Mangalore. His uncle J.M Rebello was my colleague and best friend of mine. I feel very sorry for having lost contact with him for so many years. He was also very much attached with me, Anyhow I have lost a noble soul. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear Sandra, Arun, Vijay, Prakash, Jawahar, Ranjan & all family members, A young science graduate from St Aloysius College, Mangalore left India for Germany around the year 1969 -70 just to quench his insatiable thirst of deeper learning in the field of Science. Along the way earned himself a PhD, and he was a Professor in the University of Heidelberg, Germany as I know. He was the nephew of late Professor John Rebello of St Aloysius College, Mangalore. The eldest among the six children of the late John Pinto & late Terry (Rebello) Pinto. Dr Santhosh Pinto was our well known ex-parishioner among the youth back in those days who passed away on February 19, 2022. That was very sad news for those of us who knew him very personally. He was accomplished by worldly standards though, he was well known for his quiet good deeds, which never went unnoticed. A very humble scientist who lived a simple life. He has run his race to do the things that were closest to his conscience - serving the people in Randerath, Heinsberg in Germany, sincerely & whole-heartedly. As the recognition of his service great service to the community, the German Government had conferred the highest civilian award to honour him in 1984. I had visited both Santosh & Beulah in Randerath, and was a witness to the event. I was truly impressed with the in-depth knowledge Santosh had demonstrated on various things. I am sure God is pleased with his worldly kind deeds. Yet, at the same time, may the same Eternal God forgive him any of his short comings, grant Santosh the Heavenly crown as his reward. May Santosh's departed soul rest in peace, eternally.

I'm very sad Santosh abba has passed. He was an amazing person as well as the perfect tour guide when we visited him in Germany. He seemed like a humble mad scientist with a good heart. The 3 days I spent with him were enough to show me how great he was. He showed us everything, told us everything, and made my trip to Germany one of the most memorable journeys of my life. He had visited our school way back in 1977 and showed us several videos on Germany. He was the one who inspired me first to to go out and see the world. I keep telling my friends that it was Dr. Santosh Pinto who first showed me the glimpse of the outside world and inspired me to travel across the globe. It is sad to hear that he is gone. It is really sad to hear about the untimely passing of Sonthu Uncle...as we fondly called him. He was a person of great humility and nobility. Every time he used to come to Mangalore, he used to visit each and every person he knew (with a video camera in hand) and take pictures and videos of everyone to remember them by. Dr. Santhosh Pinto received the highest civilian award from the German Government at a very young age...a very proud moment for all of us associated with him. I have grown up in San Marina as one of their own and closely associated with all the brothers till this day. I am glad to have made the trip to Germany in September 2015 to visit him. In the 3 days that we spent with him, the love and hospitality he showered on us, the places he showed us - his museums, his photo/art/video/book collection, his sheer intelligence and depth of knowledge just blew our mind. A genius par excellence, I am so fortunate to have known you and spent time with you dear Sonthu Uncle. You will remain in my heart forever. Adeus till we meet again. Will remember you fondly in my heart always...

Sad to know the demise of Dr. Santosh pinto. Being born at Pais Garden, Bejai in Mangalore he went to Germany in the year 1969 to do research work and excelled in whatever he did. He was a scientist, Historian, Photographer, and chronicler. But being all this he was a down-to-earth person rooted in his birthplace Bejai. Whenever he visited India and stayed at Bejai, he used to meet all the people of his generation and the next generation and converse with them. My Grandfather, Grandmother, Mother, uncle, and aunts will tell us about his kindness and brilliance. I had the opportunity to meet him on one or two occasions. He was a collector of photographs and videos of Bejai and some of the photographs which were of the black and white era were rare. He shared some of them with me a few years back and some from his brothers. But he had a bigger collection of Randearth where he lived and cherished them. Whenever we read the obituary columns in Daijiworld on the demise of people who lived at Bejai or served at Bejai, he had a long paragraph to say about them. When my mother died in the year 2016, he personally called me, my brother, and my uncle from Germany and conveyed his condolences, and wrote a beautiful obituary. With his passing away we have lost a great human being. Condolences to his brothers and the members of their family and prayers during these days of sorrow. Before I end I want to mention the oft-repeated quote of Dr. Santosh which he used to write in the obituary column which I mention with adding his name to it. Quote “Let me conclude with the words of Pope John XXIII- „Dr. Santosh is not absent from us but just invisible to our eyes and will continue to be our new guardian angel" Unquote
