Augustine John D'Souza (90), (Retd.Employee, LIC of India, Divisional Office, Udupi), Kachur, husband of Elsie Carvalho (Elsie Teacher), father of Denzil / Clera, Noelyn / Hazlit Lewis, Bryan / Manisha, Indira / Suresh and Vijay / Estelle Sheena, grandfather of Jenelle, Chrisyl / Bryan, Trenton, Terrel, Trevor, Neil, Nichelle, Saurav, Suraj, Adriel and Shania, passed away on Friday January 28, 2022.

Mortal remains will be kept for public viewing and homage on Saturday January 29 at 10.30 am at the portico of St Peter Church, Barkur, followed by final rites at 11.00 am.

Covid 19 protocols to be strictly followed.

Very sad to know about the sad demise of our dear Ashi Uncle. He was an extremely affable, mild mannered and always smiling person. Augustine (Ashi) D'Souza was a handsome looking role model at the St.Peter's Church, Barkur, and the society at large. He was very compassionate, and concerned for the elderly, sick and needy people. He was a great inspiration to so many of us way back in the late 1960s. May Lord almighty comfort his entire family members. May He Rest in Peace, Amen.

Deeply saddened to know that cousin Ashie has passed away. He was just about a year older than me. He also happens to be the last of my older cousins to pass away. Needless to say he was very dear to me and to my late wife. He was kind of a mentor to me when I first landed in Bombay while he was already employed at Oriental Assurance Co./LIC in Bombay. He opted for a transfer to Udupi once the Divisional Offices of LIC were established there. Thereafter we maintained our relationship and connection by visiting him every time we visited Barkur on vacation; my last visit to him was in January 2016 at Bryan's apartment in Udupi. I extend my condolences to dear Elsie, and to his children Denzil, Noelyn, Bryan, Indira and Vijay and to their spouses and grandchildren. May his dear soul rest in eternal peace.

Aashi uncle was a loving and caring gentleman who was our neighbour.He always used to talk to me on the way to Udupi office. He was quite an enthusiast in academic matters and always talked about our studies and his childrens' studies too. Spoke to him last year and he mentioned all my uncles etc. So was Elsie teacher who was a loving personality. May Ashi uncle s soul rest in peace and let perpetual light shine upon him. May Almighty give enough strength and indomitable courage to Elsie teacher , Denzil, Noyelin, Bryan,Indira Vijay and all family members to bear this irreparable loss.

I express my deep sympathy at the demise of Ashiyaba.He was my walking companion while going to Milagres College Kallianpur , from Barkur to Brahmavar as in those days no bus connections to Barkur between 7.00 a.m.to 10.00 a.m.Though much senior to me ,he treated me as his close companion .Times were wonderful. Condolences to Elsy Honi n the bereaved sons n daughters.May the soul of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
