Alice Natal Monteiro (87), wife of the late Cyril Monteiro, mother of Tony / Ancilla, the late Dony / Emilda, the late Cliffy / Noreen, Boniface / Merlyn, Jenifer / Noel, the late Noel / Pramila and Rolland / Mildred, grandmother of Sarika, Nelisha, Divya, Deepthi, Dheeraj, Cresilla, Nithesh, Octovia, Michelle, Patricia, Nailesh, Juanita, Nashley, Nikita, Neville, Dr Rowan and Rosen, great grandmother of 22, passed away on July 6, 2021.

Viewing at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia, Mangalore from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm on Wednesday, July 7, followed by Mass.

Dear All, We are slowly recovering from the shock and grief due to the sudden demise of our beloved Mom, Nana and Big Nana. Thank you all for your condolences by calls, messages, mass offerings, flowers and prayers She was indeed a wonderful and selfless mother, true friend and a good neighbour who thought of everyone around her. Now I have an angel around me to whom I can pray. I was supposed to come to Mangalore on April 25 for my mum in law's (Mamma Lucy) 100th birthday on 11 May 2021. Unfortunately due to Covid, Noel and I had to cancel the trip last minute. She was excited again knowing that We’ll be coming down soon and be with her for few months. She was full of life and energy until the last. She spoke to me every day and on last Sunday too. Within few hours of our chit chat, she was admitted for vomiting and then her health deteriorated due to weak heart, fluid in lungs. I , Noel, children and grandchildren were fortunate to interact with her on Monday in the hospital. She passed away peacefully like Daddy during wee hours of Tuesday, 6 July. We thank all you who supported her during her last few years esp. Emelda, her beloved daughter in law, All sisters of Seva Nilaya who gave her a good time for the last 10 months during my absence. Our one satisfaction is we gave our best to my mother when alive than cry after death. Mummy lived a full life in ‘Khushboo’ as if her own home ‘Nandan’, entertaining friends and families, priests and nuns with full board hospitality. Parents are in the place of GOD and we should respect and love them for their sacrifices is my feeling, Noel and I feel blessed for the good times with her. She has travelled to all holy places and all the old ad new churches around Mangalore. As seen with the smile on her face, I’m sure she was received in the arms of our Lord and Mother Mary.
