Udupi: Tourism development with support of locals

Udupi, Nov 16: MLA K Raghupati Bhat expressed the view that a scheme becomes successful when it is implemented by taking the locals into confidence. He said that in the development of Malpe beach tourism, the local people can play a crucial role.

He was speaking after taking in the inaugural of winch parasailing boat introduced at Malpe beach by Adventure Water Sports Malpe beach on Saturday November 14.

Bhat said that the members of Adventure Water Sports have played a major role in the development of beach tourism at Malpe. "More tourists can be attracted here by offering more water spots. The locals can provide residential accommodation and other supportive facilities, he said, and promised to see that those who come forward to provide these things will get government support.

Chairman of Coastal Development Authority, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority, Raghavendra Kini, municipal president Sumitra R Nayak, vice president Lakshmi Manjunat Kola, Dakshina Kannada and Uudpi district cooperative fish marketing federation president Yashal Suvarna, councillors of the city, Vijaya Kodavoor, Sundar J Kalmadi, Edlin Karkala, Vijay Kunder, President of Dakshina Kannada Mogaveera Mahajan Sangha Uchila, Jaya C Kotian, and Tourism managing director and Malpe beach manager Sudesh Shetty, leaders, Pandurang Malpe, Vinay Karkeram Vijay Tingalaya, Shankar Suvarna, Ravi Karkera, Subhash Salian, Uday Kunder etc were present.
