Chitradurga, Sep 24: Former social welfare minister H Anjaneya, has demanded for the dropping of state animal husbandry minister Prabhu Chavan, from the ministry immediately. He accused Chavan of having won the assembly election from Aurad constituency on the basis of a false caste certificate. He also said that Chavan has to be disqualified from the position of MLA.

Addressing a press meet held here on Wednesday September 23, Anjaneya said that Chavan, who is from Maharashtra, belongs to a scheduled tribe there. He said he had provided ration card copy and other records to the district administration but no action has been taken against Chavan so far.

"During the assembly election, a citizen had filed objection. He had also gone to the high court. At the time the judgement was about to be pronounced, the petitioner withdrew the case. Chavan, who belongs to a scheduled tribe, had submitted a scheduled caste certificate and got elected through devious means," he said.

Anjaneya claimed that the deputy commissioner who served notice to Chavan seeking to produce caste certificate, has been transferred. He said that the current deputy commissioner has overlooked the issue so far.
