Mangaluru: Srinivas University offers BTech (Hons) in Nanotechnology

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 29: Srinivas University, here, is the only University in Karnataka offering BTech (Hons) in Nanotechnology, the general-purpose universal technology of the 21st century during the academic year 2020-21.

Nanotechnology is the only hope to provide solutions of need-based problems, want-based comforts, and fantasy-based dream desires of human beings in the 21st Century and hence has huge potential in solving problems related to nutritious food, potable water, renewable energy, consumable goods, essential health for long life etc at nearly zero cost.

‘NANO’, the biggest ever seen!!!: The popularity of nanotechnology is because of its potentiality in replacing the existing limitations of the macro scaled materials. Altering the atoms does change the properties of the material and this can be used in overcoming the drawbacks of the materials. Nanotechnology is ranked as the top engineering programme of the 21st century.

Why Nanotechnology:

? Nanotechnology is expected to drive industry 5.0 in the 21st Century and capable to realize 12 out of 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of 2030.
? Nanotechnology helps to multifold the yield of agricultural food products, the opportunity to create artificial food, and also for longtime food preservation packages.
? Nanotechnology can be used for the de-salinization of seawater and purifying contaminated industrial water in large quantities, used for mega air cleaners and environment cleaner to purify the degraded environment.
? Nanotechnology-based solar cells support high-efficiency renewable energy generators and storage devices for free energy to the world.
? Nanotechnology-based mechanically strong, lightweight, novel materials increase the durability of consumer goods, speed of electronic and computer processors.
? Nanotechnology-based automobile and aerospace components tend to offer ideal systems in those industries.
? Nanotechnology-based programmable nanobots able to identify cancerous cells, viruses, and bacteria in living beings and cure the diseases.
? Nanotechnology is a new approach for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Devices with nano-scale can interact on both the surface and the inside cancer cells with large biological molecules.
? Finally, nanotechnology supports connecting the brains and computers of the universe leading to the development of superhuman beings and further leading to lifespan expansion.

Special features of the programme:

First time introduced in the country – students integrated development models with (1) More credits in each semester (2) STEAM focus (3) Industry oriented new pedagogy with special focus on experimental learning (4) Opportunity to visit various industries and organizations for mini projects in each semester (5) E-Study material on every subject according to the syllabus (6) Placement support and research-oriented projects for every student (7) Focus on smart skill development & research orientation and (8) A full semester internship with a compulsory patent (9) Equal focus on continuous evaluation along with semester-end examination (10) Teaching-learning methodology is based on Srinivas Integrated Student Development Model of the 21st century.

Other features like separate hostel and transport facility for boys and girls, dynamic, qualified and friendly teaching faculty are available.

Duration and eligibility: 4 years, eight semesters for the candidates who have passed PUC/higher secondary examination (10+2 pattern) with 50% marks in the current academic year with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Biology as major subjects from any state board within India.

The expected job profiles and placement opportunities with attractive salary offerings are guaranteed. The university arranges bank education loan from the campus and provides college bus facility from taluk centres of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
