Cattle protection unit members thrash an alleged beef transporter

Gurugram, Aug 1 (IANS): Around two dozen members allegedly belonging to a Cattle Protection Unit (CPU) thrashed a man for allegedly carrying beef in Gurugram's Badshahpur area.

The accused also manhandled with local police when they tried to intervene in the matter during the rescue of the person. The alleged CPU members have created a ruckus for half an hour on Friday morning.

The victim, Lukman Khan, sustained multiple injuries including a skull fracture and is admitted to a hospital where his condition is stable but critical.

Lukman came to Gurugram to supply buffalo meat at Sadar Bazaar market. Tahir, the market association president of Sadar Bazaar meat market, confirmed that he came here on Friday morning but some men allegedly abducted him and took him to the Badshahpur area where he was brutally beaten.

"Lukman has been supplying buffalo meat in Sadar Baazar market for a year. He was not carrying beef," Tahir said. However, he is not aware whether Lukman has a valid license to transport raw meat or not.

When contacted, Subhash Bokan, the PRO of Gurugram police said an FIR has been registered in Badshahpur police station and the matter is under investigation. The pick-up van with meat has been seized.

The Supreme Court passed a slew of directions to provide "preventive, remedial and punitive measures" to deal with mob violence and cow vigilantism. The CJI condemns 'Cases of Mobocracy', and asked parliament to draft the new law.

So far anti-Lynching Bills passed by Rajasthan, Manipur and West Bengal still waiting for Presidential assent.

Why the President of India is sitting over the law passed by the state government to protect the 'Mobocracy' and 'Cow vigilantism'?

How many 'Sadhus' , 'Muslims', 'Dalits', 'Christians' head count does our President need to give his final nod?
Why PM Modi's ruling government is ignoring the Supreme Court directives implement the 'Anti-lynching law'?

I think PM Modi's BJP government is not interested in protecting the lives of the citizens' of this nation. It is better to be referred to the United National Human Rights commission for further action.
    Jai Hind!

Is Cattle Protection Unit a registered body? If not anyone can form any protection unit and thrash others. Then why do we need police? Have the police out-sourced their job?

Cattle can only be transported under the protection of CPU, i.e. Cattle Protection Unit... otherwise this is the result...

It is actually "a scheme" where neither beef eating is banned officially nor cattle slaughter... so many people will be doing this business thinking that it is not banned under law... and then goons spring and attack them...this is one way to indulge in extortion / violence with impunity... there is no evidence to suggest that this will end any time in the foreseeable future...

    Nayak,

I think you need to worry about your family, I mean your wife and children.
Other's family is not your business. It is because of people like you, India is still not developed.
People worried about others, but can't manage theirs.

There is a saying in Kannda Yellara maneya dose tootu. namma maneya kavali ye tootu" . This applies to you very well.
