Kundapur: People need not fear, government has taken measures against virus – Minister Kota Poojary

Kundapur, Jul 8: “Corona positive cases have been received in the Kota vicinity for the last one week. As the government has taken sufficient precautionary measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, there is no need for people to be anxious,” said minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

He was speaking in a meeting of the corona awareness committee held at Amratheshwari auditorium on Wednesday. He explained about the precautions that need to be taken to prevent spread of the virus.

“The coordination of Asha workers, health department, gram panchayat and all the departments is necessary to stay away from the virus. People should be filled with courage. Legal action should be taken against those who violate sealdown and quarantine regulations so that it may be a lesson for others,” he said.

“Collections of samples in Udupi have increased. As the numbers of labs are less, reports reach late. Necessary medicines for common cold, cough and fever that are common in monsoon will be provided in government and private hospitals and in primary health centres in villages,” he said.

Task force in urban areas also:

“The task force that functions in rural areas will be started in urban areas also after this. Tablets with immunity boosters are being provided free to members of the force. Those cannot be given to people,” he said.

“Brahmavar tahsildar Gorayya said that the people who were in contact with the infected persons are being quarantined and their houses and vicinities are being sealeddown. People’s cooperation is necessary for it,” he said.

DySP Jaishanker said that wearing masks during weddings and gatherings should be mandatory.

Kota gram panchayat Covid task force members Bhujanga Gurikar, Chadra Poojary and Santhosh Prabhu provided details of problems faced by ordinary people to the minister.

Anand C Kunder, Police circle inspector Padmanabha, Kota station sub inspector Santhosh, Kota and Kotathattu gram panchayat management officer Dr Arun Kumar Shetty, Kota community health centre medical officer Dr Vishwanath, Kota gram panchayat PDO Suresh Bangera, Kotathattu PDO Shaila Poojary, revenue inspector Raju, Kota V A Cheluvaraju, social worker Dinesh Ganiga and others were present. Minister’s private assistant Harish Shetty compered the programme.
