Bengaluru: Ayurveda finds cure for coronavirus - Clinical trial taken to next stage

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jul 1: Scientists all over the world are immersed in finding a cure for the dreaded coronavirus disease. However, the clinical trial that is held in Bengaluru has proved that it is possible to cure this pandemic through ancient Indian medical therapy of Ayurveda.

This is an important milestone achieved by India in defeating coronavirus. The clinical trial that took place according to the guidelines of the government at Victoria hospital in the city on 10 patients infected with COVID-19 has found great success. All the 10 patients have recovered and their report is negative.

The clinical trial took place from June 7 to June 25 and the patients who underwent this trial include people in the age group of 23 to 65 years. All had the symptoms of COVID-19 infection. All were cured in just nine days. In addition, clinical trials were also conducted on patients suffering from kidney, heart and lung-related ailments and these too are effective and the patients got cured.

The state government, which has considered the successful campaign that was carried out under the leadership of renowned Ayurveda doctor Dr Giridhar Kaje, has decided to take this to the next phase.

Though the team led by Dr Giridhar Kaje had requested the government to conduct the clinical trial as soon as the pandemic was in its beginning stages, the government had not given the green signal.

Finally, the government, which bowed to public pressure, gave permission to Dr Giridhar Kaje. On May 16, the Bengaluru Medical College Ethics Committee had given permission to the clinical trial, which was registered in the Clinical Trial Registry of India under the control of CMR.

The two tablets by the name Bowmya and Sathmya, invented by Dr Giridhar Kaje have done wonders in the coronavirus pandemic-infected patients. The specialty is that every patient is charged only Rs 60 to 180 for the treatment.

"All ten COVID-19 infected persons are cured through ayurvedic medicine. This is discussed in the task force committee meeting. We have asked HS Kulapati to give a report on this trial and also the practicality of implementing the same. We will proceed as per the report of Kulapati," said health minister Sriramulu.

Ayurvedic medicine tends to strengthen the immunity. However, typically clinical trial is an elaborate exercise involving a large number of consenting patients. Variety of parameters needs to be studied including age group, symptomatic & asymptomatic and severity of symptoms along with effectiveness for patients with per-existing conditions. My gut feeling is both Coronil as well as the medicine of Dr. Kaje will normally work. However, a well established protocol to switch between ayurvedic medicine to alopathy is needed.

Most of the corona positive cases cured by drinking hot water with lemon or ginger as per the patients from quarantine. Now we don't have any idea which medicine cure corona just to make some make money every body is try to introduce one or the other formula. The main challenge is in this decease is to contain even after the cured patient will not transmit the decease.

How can you declare a medicine a success by testing it on 10 people, for a disease that has a 3% death rate? This needs to be tested more extensively and only then should this be in the news.

The health department must clarify whether it's for immunity development or sickness. The medicine is given along with allopathic medicine. The authorised department specifically confirm or reject claim. Guuru Ramdev give one statement in the morning , afternoon another and night he forgets his statement. Now like this many publications the concern department must clarify whether this can be used and purpose and if it's rejected also to be published . Instead of individual publications and complications, individual publications to be banned and concerned department to publish different types of medicine available and can be used as a protective measures or at different stages,. As number of products entering market our will be Store House of medicine for fear of corona.we wish success is and further improvement

Those who have apprehensions on such claims have the option to not use this medicine. But they do not have any right to dismiss this as quackery. The cost is Rs 180, hence this is not a money-making fraud. Even expensive allopathy medicines such as HCQ, Remdesivir with so many side effects and no proven data whether it works are being administered everywhere

I have no knowledge on this subject. My relative who has read this article, is a Microbiologist with additional study on Virology holding an Associate Director position in a large pharmaceutical company, told me that in Victoria Hospital they had a trial on only 10 people between 23 and 65ages.

She said, people who are in these age group, who are not in ICU with ventilator, are generally cured by doses of Amoxycillin 500 mg and Paracetamol. Unless this Ayurvedic drug is tested on a larger group, including also below 10 and above 65 and in ICU, it is better not to comment on this finding of Victoria Hospital trial now.

We want to congratulate him and thank him for his hard work and honestly helping for the cure but if he can expand his testing on bigger age group it will help to people.to understand his finding s and effectiveness of his medications. If it is "ancient Ayurveda", there is no scope for any "invention" of a tablet.

    Either use the ancient Ayurveda...

...or go about inventing your own remedies.

But, without any third party certification, it is just the "ancient" racket of making money from the gullible people.

If the medicine has any type of natural steroids it will be effective and may have side effects.

I tried to buy Baba Ramdev's eye drops and did not use it as I was told they have steroids and heavy metals (Heavy metals can cause long term kidney and brain damage.) All the best for the inventor.

The best way to check is inject the inventor with Corona virus in a hospital like wenlock and give him his own medicine to prove it works. If he is successful he might get a Nobel prize in medicine -a first one for an Indian), If it does not work sell it to the Chinese.
    Tak-Tak

If the Ayurvedic medicine is indeed proved effective, would it be possible to produce in large quantiries, in millions of doses on a global scale? And we would need it in matter of a few months. Ayurvedic medicine being typically based on herbs and roots and seeds will be very slow in production.

Unlike Western/asian medicine which(i also hope they find great success) are currently being tested on mice, pigs, chimpanzees etc, ayurveda is exclusively for humans so they're safe in the first place and have no major side effects too.
