International flights not to operate till June-end, decision in July

New Delhi, May 30 (IANS): The Centre on Saturday decided not open up international air travel till June-end, while the decision to restart services will be taken only in July, depending upon the prevailing circumstances at that time.

The development came as the fifth phase of the national lockdown was announced on Saturday which will last in the containment zones from till June 30.

The guidelines said that only a limited number of activities will remain prohibited throughout the country, including international air travel of passengers till June-end.

The Centre had allowed limited domestic passenger flights -- about one-third of the summer schedule -- to operate between metros and other destinations from May 25.

Passenger air services were suspended on March 25 due to the nationwide lockdown to check the spread of Covid-19.

Am having a UAE Residence Visa as an Investor in a UAE Free Zone. I am stuck in India since the 1st lockdown and suspension of international flights.

I wish to share an important fact - Bahrain has allowed it's Citizens and expatriates with Residence Visa who are stuck in India to board repatriation flights coming from India to Bahrain. However, UAE has allowed only it's Citizens and their relatives & their domestic helps to board repatriation flights going from India to UAE airports.

I feel that just like Indians abroad who want to get back to India via Repatriation flights, there are people like me (overseas companies owners, those who are working overseas, etc) who are stuck in India also need to be allowed to go back via special flights or even in the same repatriation flights which anyway originate in India. Our Government hence needs to negotiate with foreign Governments to allow both ways repatriation or evacuation. Else even we will be forced to close down our overseas businesses soon and be sacked from our jobs overseas for not reporting to work!

I appeal to our Government to restart International flights from June 1st itself and give people like me some sort of relief.

They need to atleast send the Vande Bharat flights to africa (Uganda)
So many Indians ( 400+,) are stranded here no one is talking about it. They are not opening international airspace for airlines bringing passengers but atleast save us than continue with lockdowns.
