Panaji: River Navigation Department adds new boat to its fleet

Panaji, May 28: A new ferry boat has been added by the river navigation department to its fleet on Wednesday, May 27, TOI reported.

The ferry boat will ply along the St Pedro-Divar route. Launched from the Panaji jetty, the new boat is called 'Mandovi-1' and was built by Aquarius Shipyard Pvt Ltd.

Over three ferries were ordered from Aquarius for a cost of Rs 1.9 crore. The first one was handed over on May 14 and was registered with the office of the Captain of Ports.

The rest of the boats which are under construction will be delivered by the first week of June. Mandovi-1 comes with safety features for commuters such as fire fighting and life-saving equipment.
