Mangaluru, May 4: Owners of Thokkottu High Spirits shop had marked the floor in the front of the shop with chalk for people to stand after directions were received on Sunday to open liquor shops. They have also put pandal in front of the shop so that the customers may not be tired standing in the scorching sun. Such facility was not provided anywhere else in Mangaluru. Liquor lovers in Thokkottu were protected from the heat of the sunshine due to the pandal.

Workers who were receiving rice donated since the last 39 days surprised by standing in the queue. The workers who had come in the vicinity of Thokkottu for construction work were stranded due to lockdown. The workers who were starving were donated rice by Sai Pariwar, Thokkottu. The donors are saying that were sad that the workers were standing for liquor.

Customers were standing for liquor at Thokkottu, Kotekar, Beeri, Talapady, Ullal and Nithyanand Nagar the whole day long. The customers who stood for hours were dissatisfied when the stock got over in the evening.

Ullal municipal commissioner and Covid -19 nodal officer Rayappa swung lathi to liquor customers in Thokkottu and Ullal threatening them and warning the wine shop owners for not maintaining social distance.

All those lined up here, please avoid taking free ration or financial assistance. You have money for liquor, you surely have for food essentials
