Karkala: Two accidentally drown in Ramasamudra lake

Karkala, Mar 28: A lady and a girl who entered Ramasamudra lake in the town for taking bath accidentally drowned in the water. This incident happened in the afternoon of Friday March 27.

Deekshitha (12), daughter of Srinivas, resident of Karkala Kabettu, who was on a visit to the home of her uncle since Tuesday went to Ramasamudra lake along with her cousin, Sharath (10) and Kavita (24), wife of a worker from Bhadravathi, on Friday afternoon. Kavita and Deekshitha went to take bath. Almost immediately both began to drown. Sharath ran home and informed family members. Immediately, expert divers began to search for the two. They were assisted by fire brigade staff. After a few hours, both the bodies were retrieved and brought out.

Tahsildar Purandar Hegde, town station sub-inspector Madhu B E, councillor Winnibolt, environment engineer Madan, and village accountant Shivaprasad, visited the residence of the family.
