Bengaluru: Man accused of attacking police constable fired at, injured

Bengaluru, Mar 26: A person who was accused of attacking a police constable on Wednesday was fired at and injured in the leg by the police personnel in the wee hours of Thursday, March 26.

The accused, identified as Tajuddin, had been escorted to the spot of the incident early morning on Thursday. During the process of the inquest, he gave the police a slip and tried to run away. After he went away for some distance, the police followed him to take him back into custody. At that time, he reportedly tossed stones and brick pieces at them.

Police sub-inspector Roopa, and head constable Manjanna, came under attack from the accused. Immediately, police inspector of Sanjay Nagar station fired two rounds in the air. The accused refused to surrender. Then he was fired in the left leg.

Injured Tajuddin and police officials were admitted into Baptist Hospital, said deputy commissioner of police (city north), Shashikumar.
