Military training should be made compulsory in India: Goa CM

Panaji, Jan 14 (IANS): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Tuesday that, in his opinion, military training should be made compulsory in the country in view of the prevailing lack of patriotism.

Speaking at an awareness camp here organised by the Indian armed forces, Sawant said:

"At times, one feels that military training should be compulsory."

"If it is made compulsory, I am not saying it should be made compulsory, but if it happens, then such patriotistism (like that in the armed forces) will be inculcated in all Indians. There is a need for this today," he added.

Sawant also linked the lack of patriotism in the country to the protests against recent legislations passed in Parliament.

"We see, when the PM passes a law in the highest forum, in Parliament, it is binding on all countrymen. It is our duty to follow the law. Today, there is lack of patriotism among people, I feel," he said.

Goa C.M' s patriotism definition stating that law that passed by parliament should have been respected by all.
In a way he is right; but it's time for him to introspect. Why person like KP Bhat doesn't understand the language of constitution which guarantees secularism?
He passionately hates minorities by name, creates division amongst citizens; news appears in so many news media.
Yet neither the C.M. nor RSS nor any of his party leaders criticizing him or prevailing over him for speaking the language which is against constitution?

Defense should be a compulsory subject of education . It should include one year of actual weapons training n military facility. Our country could truely prosper with a mighty armed force ready to assist at any national calamity.

Very good idea. But I suggest all present MPs and MLAs must compulsory take military traing at border atleast six months in their tenure of 5 years. And in future those who have military experience, they only should contest for election.

Once RSS said, their cadres are more trained and faster than our armed forces, why whole citizens required training?
