Udupi, Nov 8: “Udupi district Cooperative Union is organizing a week long programme in association with State Cooperative mandala, Cooperative department and other Cooperative unions of the district to mark the 66th Akhila Bharath Sahakara Saptaha at different parts of the districts from November 14 to 20 under the slogan ‘The role of Cooperative Unions in Modern India”, said Jayakar Shetty Indrali, district president Cooperative Union at press meet held at Hotel Diana on Thursday, November 7.
Sharing more information about the programme Jayakar Shetty said, “The Sahakara Saptaha will be inaugurated at Kaup Sri Janardhan Temple auditorium on Thursday, November 14 at 3 pm by district in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai. A sahakari jatha will be held at 2 pm as part of the event.
“Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary will be hoist the Cooperative flag. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SDCC will preside over the programme. All Cooperative Union vehicles should have Cooperative Union flag compulsorily.
“Lalaji R Mendon, Kaup MLA, Raghupathi Bhat, Udupi MLA, Vinaya Kumar Sorake, former minister, G Jagadeesha, deputy commissioner, Jayakar Shetty Indrali, district president cooperative union, and Chandra Patima M J, assistant manager, cooperative unions Kundapur, will be present at the programme.
“On Friday, November 15, the second programme of saptaha will be held at the premises of Molahalli Cooperative Seva Sahakara Union, Bidkalkatte at 10 am. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SDCC will inaugurate the programme.
”On Saturday, November 16, the third programme of saptaha is organized at Sri Durgaparameshwari kalyana mantapa, at 3.30 pm. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SDCC will inaugurate the programme.
“On Sunday, November 17, the fourth programme of saptaha will be held in association with Varanga Cooperative Seva sahakara Union at Brahma Shri Narayana Guru auditorium at 3 pm. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SDCC will inaugurate the programme.
“On Tuesday, November 19, the sixth programme of saptaha will be held in association with Srishakti Self-help group and multi-purpose sahakara sangha Udupi, and Udupi Women customers’ sahakara sangha at Town hall Ajjarkad at 3 pm. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SDCC will inaugurate the programme.
“The valedictory ceremony of the week-long programme will be held on Wednesday, November 20 in association with Farmers’ Cooperative Union, Kambadakone, at Karnataka Karvi Harikantha auditorium at 10 am. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SDCC will inaugurate. MLA B Sukumar Shetty will inaugurate Raitha Siri Seva Kendra,” he said.
Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, director, district central cooperative bank, Dakshina Kannada, Mahesh Hegde, Ashok Kumar Shetty, and Purushottam S P, chief executive and others were present.
