Goa: Drishti denies proportionate salary to lifeguards over strikes

Daijiworld Media Network – Goa (EP)

Goa, Oct 12: Most personnel of Drishti have remained off work on beaches on Friday here after the management denied eight day’s salary to workers who were on strike. The management claimed that they have permission to withhold salaries under essential services maintenance act.

It is said that most of the lifeguards were paid less than half their salary just before Ganesh Chaturthi and the balance only in installments. Drishti says that lifeguards were paid bonuses every year though lifeguards say that they have not received it for the last two years.

The media was informed by Drishti that salaries had been credited to the accounts of the lifeguards after the department of tourism cleared part of its dues.
