Mangaluru, Jul 20: A woman drew the attention of the city police commissioner Sandeep Patil, complaining that the traffic police had imposed fine on her vehicle that was newly acquired just six months back, for not possessing emission certificate. The commissioner asked the assistant commissioner to look into the matter.
In her tweet, the woman had said that new vehicles do not need emission certificates till a year since purchase. The woman, identified as Nidhi, said in view of this provision, her vehicle had not been tested for emission. In his reply by way of tweet, the commissioner asked her to mention the spot where the fine was imposed and time. He also said that the traffic assistant commissioner of police has been asked to address the complaint and gave her the mobile phone number of the official.

Nishi, in a later tweet, said that the police had refunded the fine amount after discussing the issue several times. She said that her aim behind raising this topic was to make policemen aware that they need to be people-friendly.
