Bengaluru, Jul 19: The central administrative tribunal (CAT) which took up the petition filed by head of state department of fire and emergency services, has concluded that the promotion of Neelamani Raju to the post of state director general and inspector general of police by the state is in order. The CAT accordingly quashed his petition.

Reddy happens to be the second senior-most police officers of Karnataka. Reddy, a 1984 batch IPS officer, said that when appointing Neelamani as the state director general by the police, the state government had not properly strictly followed the guidelines given on the issue by the Supreme Court. He also accused the state government of not properly scrutinizing the list of IAS officers in the state on seniority basis before taking a decision.

But the CAT appreciated the work of the appointment committee and the departments of the government. They, in their report on the issue, said that considering the seniority of the petitioner, concluded that the chief minister had taken a right decision in appointing Neelamani as the state director general and inspector general police of the state.
