BJP leaders calls Emergency 'darkest chapter' of Indian history

New Delhi, Jun 25 (IANS): On the 44th anniversary of the Emergency, top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Tuesday criticized the 19 month-long period of Emergency, declared by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, saying it was the "darkest chapter" in the history of India.

BJP Working President J.P. Nadda took to Twitter, saying that "democracy was murdered by the Congress party on this day merely to remain in power".

"A grateful nation remembers thousands of unsung heroes from Bhartiya Jan Sangh and RSS, who led anti-emergency movement from the front," he added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recalled the "collapse of fundamental rights of citizens and the shut-down of newspapers during the period of Emergency".

He tweeted: "Lakhs of nationalist against the Emergency suffered to establish democracy in the country. I salute to all those soldiers for their sacrifice."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh termed Emergency and its following incidents as the "darkest chapter" in Indian history.

"On this day, we the people of India should always remember the importance of upholding the integrity of our institutions and the Constitution," he said in his tweet.

The darkest chapter of independent India is the aftermath of the Babri Masjid demolition. The killing of innocent people of all religions. Followed by the Godhra incident

If Emergency is the darkest chapter, the emergence of BJP/MODI Communal and non-secular India in 2019 is a black hell hole in Indian history.

BJP leadership is 100% right. Soviet Union master-minded India's Emergency rule to keep Indira Gandhi in power forever; Indira herself tried to elevate her son Sanjay Gandhi as her successor.

Keeping Indian parliament in power to almost six years, keeping Emergency rule in India, with a slogan "India is Indira, Indira is India" Indira Gandhi expected to win 90% of Indian Parliament. If Indira Gandhi had won in 1977, that would have been the last elections in India, many Congress leaders wanted Indira Gandhi as 'life long Indian President'. Also Congress wanted to eliminate current Parliamentary system. India would have President system with Indira Gandhi as life long President & Sanjay would have named as her successor. Hindi Belt of India decidedly voted her out of power.

With Bangladesh & India in their side, Soviet Union would have invaded Iran and Pakistan, after Afghanistan invasion (Indira Gandhi was a party to Afghan invasion; supported USSR at the United Nations, which angered President Carter and the democratic west). Democracy would have ended in Asian Subcontinent. Forget today's developed India. We would have worshiped Congress political leaders to get our daily meals like that in today's North Korea, Cuba, Nicaragua Venezuela etc. India's association with Soviets from 1968 to 1984 (Except Janata party's two years) put India's progress behind by half a century. If we were a real neutral or pro-west country (like Nehru-Shastri's time), India would have been far ahead of Japan & South Korea, as these countries advanced with western help within two decades; i.e. 1950-1970.

Because of Emergency, North Indian Hindi Belt of India, particularly Bihar & UP never came back to Congress fold. Today, Congress politically is in pathetic state only because of Indira/Congres Emergency and the Operation Blue Star.... . Moreover, in 2019 elections; all states which voted Indira Gandhi out of power in 1997 have VOTED-IN Mr. Modi by huge margin

They don't know what is development. They need someone from Gandhi family to teach.
Within five & half years they developed only their stomach, bank balance, evil things, cholesterol, sugar, blood pressure and white beard/ mustaches.
