Mayurbhanj, Jun 25: Earlier this week, a couple was mistreated by the locals of Mayurbhanj in Odisha. The couple’s head was shaved off on grounds that they were in an affair.
The victims belong to a minority community and identified as Sagura Khatun. The locals allegedly barged into the woman’s house and found the man present inside as well. They assaulted them and humiliated them by dragging them out of the house and shaving off their heads.
The couple victimized by the act approached the Karanjia police station. A case was registered following which officials arrested three of the accused.
The Superintendent of Police, Awinash Kumar, stated that attention was given in maintaining communal peace and harmony. The officials were successful in nabbing the perpetrators and were on the lookout for another person who was an accomplice in the act.
