Panaji: Car of BJP candidate Siddharth Kunkolienkar attacked

Panaji, May 17: A car in which BJP candidate Siddharth Kunkolienkar, who is contesting upcoming Panaji by-election, was attacked by two unknown men on Thursday midnight.

As per the complaint filed with Panaji Police Station, the incident happened at Mala locality of Panaji Assembly constituency when Kunkolienkar was returned after visiting a temple.

“Two youth who were standing at the roadside suddenly attacked the car in which I was travelling. They threw bottles on the car before fleeing on a motorcycle,” Kunkolienkar said.

He stated that both were wearing helmets due to which their identity could not be established.

The by-election in Panaji constituency is scheduled on May 19. The election was necessitated after the demise of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

A senior police officer said that the complaint has been registered against unknown persons and search is on to track them depending on the description provided by Kunkolienkar.
