Bengaluru, May 15: Sumalatha, who fought from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate, admitted openly that Congress activists in her constituency had supported her.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday May 14, Sumalatha said that many people have been claiming that Congress had extended her indirect support. She added that the Congress activists had supported her candidature openly and that everyone is aware of it. On the reported standoff between Congress leaders, Narendra Swamy and Annadani, she said she is not responsible for it, and that the differences are on account of purely personal issues.

About the result that is expected to be announced next week, she said she has not been worrying about it but that she is curious. "Under such circumstances, Ambareesh used to remain cool and unperturbed. For me, this is a new experience. I am not disturbed by different surveys that have been coming out with varying reports the day in and the day out. I am confident about the result favouring me, but have not been overconfident," she stated.
