Kundapur: Massive Protests held to Expose Role of SI in Unnatural Death of Young Man

Kundapur, Apr 7:
The anti-cow slaughter law enacted by the state government is foolish. In order to implement the said Act, the cattle ought to be brought to the witness box in the court. If at all the state has regard for human dignity and democracy, such an act should be scrapped with immediate effect, demanded rationalist G Rajashekar.

Rajashekar was addressing the gathering at a massive protest meet held at Karmika Bhavan, here on Tuesday April 7 morning, organized by Souharda Vedike, against the dubious role played by the local sub-inspector in the unnatural death of 23-year-old local youth Matin from Kandlur village, recently.

"It would not be enough if we just seek the transfer of Kundapur sub-inspector Satish Kumar, accused of playing a role in the unnatural death of Matin.  Satish Kumar should be suspended first from service and be subjected to investigations.  He is not fit to be in police uniform and not fit to be posted anywhere else where he comes into public contact.  He is suffering from mental illness just like some of Swamijis from across the state, editors of many newspapers including the BJP MLAs.  They all need psychiatric care at the earliest," Rajashekar added.

"Under which provisions of Indian Penal Code, a boy and girl are not allowed to have ice-cream together?  Sub-inspector Satish Kumar has an increasing tendency to beat up such groups of youngsters.  This proves his inhuman mindset and scant regard for human lives," Rajashekar said, expressing his anguish.

The poor peasants are forced to worship their old cattle.  It is a fact that in majority of cases Hindu peasants are engaged as brokers in selling cattle, while many newspapers carry reports of Muslims involved with stealing the cattle and transporting them to slaughter houses. The newspaper reports indeed misguide people and serve the interests of Hindu fundamentalists, Rajashekar said.

Sub inspector Satish Kumar is fabricating the happenings by twisting the facts, claiming that Matin had jumped into the rivulet at Kandlur, since water level in this summer season is not deep enough for a man to get drowned there.  Besides, Satish Kumar did not have the authority or need to chase Matin in the middle of night. .  He is under the impression that people will believe his story.  Satish Kumar is not only cruel and also an idiot, Rajashekar added.

The protests are likely to be held in city streets here, without worrying over the chances of policemen registering cases against the protesters.  One should develop the courage to stage struggles and seeking justice, if at all one values the freedom accorded by Mahatma Gandhiji, Bhagat Singh and other martyrs of Indian freedom struggle.  The role of Hindu fundamentalists and police department should be exposed, including the role of sub-inspector Satish Kumar behind unnatural death of 23-year-old Matin, only if the people continue their struggle for justice, he added.

Souharda Vedike convener Shashidar Hemmady in his introductory address said that since the day Satish Kumar took over charge here, he has been functioning against the interests of minority communities and a situation has arisen where Christians, Muslims and secularist Hindus were forced not at all to go to the police station in order to file cases seeking justice.

Meanwhile, Hemmady also urged the state administration to consider the allegations leveled by deceased Matin’s father and others relating to Matin’s unnatural death seriously and suspend all the policemen involved with the case.

Local Catholic Sabha leader Valerian Menezes, CPI (M) town committee secretary Ashwath Kumar, DYFI taluk secretary Srikant Vaderahobli, Dalit Sangarsh Samiti (DSS) Ambedkarism taluk convener Gopalakrishna, Tile Workers Union leader H Narasimha, Souharda Vedike convener Chandrashekar Joseph Cyril D’Silva, deceased Karani Matin’s father Karani Ameer were present at the occasion.

Souharda Vedike convener Edwin Crasta presided over the programme.

DYFI local leader Sudhakar Kanchan welcomed the gathering. Over 1000 protesters were present at the occasion.

Dont we have a constitution and dont all of us have equal rights if not lets divide this place according to religious groups and live accordingly. People in public service like politicians and Police should be non aligned and secular in mind set or they could be the fuel to a fire already raging by vested interests.

Most of the time the cow is used for milk by the hindu peasants and once it stops giving milk it is sold to muslim through hindu brokers.. The problem starts when a muslim gets involved in the selling of the cow.. The former gets his share of the cow.. after years of milking and enjoying the money from the milk.. which is not wrong.. sells it for a fortune! The problem arises when the muslims take the cow and sell it the slaughter house and is being slaughtered ..

Although muslims, christians, hindus , sikhs and jains eat beef.. and relish the dish.. the problem is created by the non secular saffron gang and hindu fanatics and pull the innocent muslims into the drama... I say... if this is the case.. a cow should not be milked in the first place as it is being hurt everyday morning being milked .. I think a lot of you will accept my argument !

These police officals should be sacked and not allowed in soceity.. All normal citizens pay huge tax from there salary which is used to govern/administer the country... Same is paid to police officers by government and its duty of each offical to safeguard each and every citizen and safeguard the country.. But these officals safeguard only politicans who bribe them more..

They take bribe from politicans and do whatever they are asked and I think they even wash toiltes and underwears of these politicans... Sack the offical concerned and throw him out of soceity...Jai Hind...
