Actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada joins BJP

New Delhi, Mar 26 (IANS): Former Samajwadi Party leader and actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here in the presence of senior party leaders.

Jaya Prada was inducted into the party by BJP General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav and Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni.

Jaya Prada is likely to be fielded from the Rampur Lok Sabha constituency which she represented in 2009 and 2014.

On both occasions, she defeated Congress's Noor Bano from Rampur.

She joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1994 to enter politics. Later she joined the Samajwadi Party but was expelled due to anti-party activities in 2010.

Cine actor Amitab Bachan is informally in BJP to save himself from 'Panama Papers' scandal which sends Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sheriff to jail in India it is thrown under the carpet by PM Modi's government.
Bachchan is India’s most venerated actor with a career spanning five decades. While most of Bachchan’s wealth is from his movies, according to Forbes magazine, the Panama Papers revealed the actor’s other business interests. Last year, the 75-year-old was linked to shipping companies in the British Virgins Islands and the Bahamas as their director. The authorized capital of these companies ranged between $5,000 and $50,000, according to the documents, but they traded in ships worth millions of dollars.

The Paradise Papers reveal Bachchan’s involvement with a digital media company set up in Bermuda in 2002 along with other investors. The company was subsequently dissolved in 2005. But here’s the catch: Until the introduction of the Liberalised Remittance Scheme in 2004, all investments abroad made by resident Indians required prior approval of the Reserve Bank of India, the Indian Express said. “It’s not clear if the (Bachchan’s) shareholding was disclosed to RBI,” the newspaper added.

Now, actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada joining BJP, from Paradise Papers to the Panama leaks, Amitabh Bachchan will be protected like 'Nirav Modi'.
