"No Short Skirts": Maharashtra College's diktat upsets students

Mumbai, Mar25 (PTI): Students of a medical college in Maharashtra have launched a protest after authorities allegedly asked them to not wear short skirts and sit apart from men during events.

Authorities of Mumbai's JJ Hospital's Grant Medical College came up with the set of instructions after a Holi event on March 21, students said. Today, students wore ankle-length clothes and covered their faces in protest towards the circular issued by the college.

"The instructions were issued by Dean Dr Ajay Chandanwale and Warden Shilpa Patil. They said women must not wear short skirts, should sit apart from men at events and return to their hostels before 10 pm," students said.

"We condemn this decision of the college administration. It unnecessarily encroaches on our right to dress the way we want. Why should everyone be punished for the actions unruly students."

In response to students' allegations, Dean Dr Ajay Chandanwale said, ""The expectation from female students is that they dress appropriately. This alone was my message to the students. There was some chaos during Holi. If there is any grudge or objection, we will hear the students out," he said.

Dear all, don't be surprised, these are just the trailers, Give the Naklee Chowkidar and his First Lady (Ms. Vomit Sha) another term and we will all be dancing to their tunes, they will decide where and when you can go to pray, what you eat and drink, what you can wear and cannot, whom to speak, type of media you read and watch, the list is endless, alcohol ban is a certainty (as in Gujarat and Bihar), this is the time and the change is in our hands, vote of progress in our beloved nation, we are entering a very dangerous phase in History.. may God bless each of us with the wisdom to keep aside communal or caste issues and vote for the betterment of all Indians..

It is a good sign to help people to wake up from their slumber.

Earlier people used to ask what congress done in the past 70years. Now they can at least realize and appreciate what congress preserved in the 70years.

Today there are rowdy gangs largely promoted by RSS and BJP, who are more interested in what some one eats, wears, what they read, where they can go and when they go etc. etc. They are not interested in law and order. They just want to be the law. India is not going to tolerate such nuisance for long run and it will explode one day as civil unrest. I guess that is what the RSS and BJP wanting to impose on India.

Yes, BJP ruled states are like Afghanistan. Beef has already been banned.
Now what is left, only alcohol ban which might come anytime from now.
Government decides what to eat, what to wear and whom to worship.

This will upset both the students and girls in particular. Most of the girls think they are coming to fashion show and not to study. They dress sexily and this attracts male students towards them. Why don't they dress modestly at least in colleges. Mumbai girls are very sexy and they want to dress sexy too. they are now following western society and nudity is the main thing for them. Covering body is considered as old fashion and unculture whereas nudity is considered as modern and cultured life.

The extent of skin exposure in saree is much higher than skirts and tops or jeans and tees!
In most of Shakeela movies, she is seen in sarees (while dressed) and not in jeans or other western dresses.
