Lok Sabha polls: BJP releases first list of Karnataka candidates; Nalin, Shobha in

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru/Bengaluru

Mangaluru/Bengaluru, Mar 21: After days of suspense over who would get the BJP tickets for the coming Lok Sabha elections from the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, the party has decided to go with the sitting MPs.

In the list of 182 candidates released by the party at the national level on Thursday March 21, Nalin Kumar Kateel has been chosen as the candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency and Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru.

There had been reports that the party was in two minds regarding fielding Shobha Karandlaje again, and a section of party workers in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru had opposed her candidature. There was some opposition to Nalin's candidature too, but it was almost certain that he would be getting the ticket again.

Sitting MP of Mysuru-Kodagu Pratap Simha has been given the ticket again from the same constituency. So also union minister Anant Kumar Hegde from Uttara Kannada.

Jayaprakash Hegde has not been given the ticket.

B Y Raghavendra, son of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, has been given the ticket from Shivamogga.

Altogether, the party has released the names of candidates for 21 out of 28 seats in Karnataka.

Other candidates include:

Devendrappa - Ballari
P C Mohan - Bengaluru Central
Suresh Angadi - Belagavi
Prahlad Joshi - Dharwad
G S Basavaraj - Tumakuru
A Manju - Hassan
Sadananda Gowda - Bengaluru North
Shivakumar Udasi - Haveri
Narayana Swamy - Chitradurga
Umesh Jadhav - Kalaburagi
P C Gaddigoudar - Bagalkot
Ramesh Jigajinagi - Vijaypura
Bhagwanth Khuba - Bidar
Gowdar M Siddeshwara - Davangere
Srinivas Prasad - Chamarajanagar
B N Bacchegowda - Chikkaballapur

The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases starting April 11. The polling in Karnataka will be in two phases on April 18 and 23. The votes will be counted on May 23.

I had mentioned this few days back, Nalin Kateel from Mangalore will get the ticket from BJP because of his grass root level workers connection in tact and Shobha will get the BJP ticket for Udupi/chikka mangalore due to her good relationship with State BJP leader. This is the way, even the job selection takes place.

We wish both of them good luck.

It is a sad and a unfortunate situation that you need to vote for these two terrible candidates for the betterment of India under Modi. It is a very difficult choice.

Vote for Modi for the betterment of the country which could help millions of people (in the last five years and in the long run) or vote for local capable candidates who could improve your district but which would affect the nation negatively in the total count for the overall elections.

    What a disaster!

BJP has repeated the same sitting candidates who did not respond to the aspiration of the citizen voters in the last five years. Shoba was, let alone working, never been seen in many parts of the constituency during her just ending term. When there were lot of problems for the citizens in National Highway she never responded. She might have participated in some of the proceedings in the parliament as reported. That might be at the bidding of her party higherups, but not certainly to the benefit of the citizens. Her contribution towards the development is zero. There is no real development in the constituency. Still she go the ticket. Let us see how people respond.

The MP who made bitter communal statement in Uttara Kannada is also given a ticket. This shows what BJP is planning in the next term. They would never care for the constitutional propriety and would like to work against the minorities. That would cost dearly to the BJP in this election.
