Udupi, Mar 15: In a shocking incident that occurred on the afternoon of Thursday March 14, the headmaster of a school who was going toward the city from Shirva died of a heart attack while riding the bike near Salmara of Shankerpur.

Choma Naika (46), head teacher of Bantakallu Sri Durgaparameshwari Higher Primary School is the unfortunate person who lost his life in this tragic incident. He was going toward the office of the zonal education officer at Udupi on some official work. He felt acute pain in his chest when he reached Baroda Bank near Salmara. He stopped his bike immediately and screamed for help. Locals gave Choma Naika, who vomitted also, first aid and shifted him to the community health center of Shirva in an ambulance, but he was declared brought dead.

The teaching fraternity of his school and other locals paid their last respects to him at the Shirva community health center. A case in this regard is registered at Shirva police station.

Choma Naika was a native of Katukukke Kuriatadka in the district of Kasaragod and was living in a rented house at Belman Jantra. He has left behind his wife, who is an honorary teacher and two children, who are studying in the second standard.

Choma Naika was serving in the Bantakallu school since eight years and he was promoted as head teacher four years ago. Earlier, he worked as a teacher in the Patla school near Pernankila and was later transferred to Bantakallu school as additional teacher.
