Udupi, Feb 5: Udupi District Congress and Panchayat Raj organisation jointly condemned the hateful act of the recreation of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by Hindu Mahasabha activists on the day of martyrs.

“Organisations associated with Sangh Pariwar enacting death of Mahatma Gandhi and offering garland to the statue of Godse was an insult to the freedom fighters of the country. Gandhiji sacrificed his life for the country. Insult to him has made the country bow its head in shame. People in the country should condemn the followers of Godse who justify the murder of Mahatma Gandhi. BJP’s silence even when its organisations insult Mahatma Gandhi reflects its mentality,” lashed former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Former MLA Gopala Bhandary, KPCC chief secretary M A Gafoor, secretary Veronica, district congress president Janardhan Thonse and Udyavar Nagesh Kumar addressed the protesters.

Rajiv Gandhi panchayat organisation district organiser Roshan Oliver welcomed the gathering and Y B Raghavendra proposed vote of thanks.

    Hindu Sabha was puppet and agent of British rulers before independence and they never support freedom fighters.

    They preferred to be under British Rule as they were being paid by British. Not a single Hindu sabha member took part in freedom fighting but instead collaborated with british providing information abut freedom fighters.

    Same thing is being done by them financed + supported by bjp. Hindu Maha sabha and bjp are two faces of same coin. Traitors who shoot Gandhiji portrait should be arrested are goonda act and given life imprisonment. Can we expect this from bjp govt.?
