Udupi, Jan 12: “The revolutionary work done by Madhukar Shetty in Lokayuktha is still rooted in the minds of people. He was the strength of the society. Madhukar Shetty lived like a volcano in his life. He did not get the justice that he deserved,” said IGP Arun Chakravathy. He was speaking after chairing the programme to pay tributes to IPS police officer late Madhukar Shetty held by Udupi district Muslim Okkoota at Ammanniramanna Shetty auditorium, on Friday.

“Madhukar was a friendly person and was dedicated and hard working since his student days. He was a sincere, talented person,” said Muslim Okkoota president Yasin Malpe.” He was straightforward and always thought that society should benefit from him but did nothing for him and his house. He never bore corruption and crime. He always stood for truth.

“He knew that corruption cannot be controlled by constables, but it should be identified and controlled from the root. He was instrumental in punishing those who were involved in illegal mining in Ballary. He was the first to arrest an MLA."

DCP Abdul Ahmed said that it is not easy to be a sincere police officer. “Those who are considered sincere face hardship. Madhukar Shetty being an IPS officer should have been decorated in a high position. It was not possible due to the corrupt system. Madhukar Shetty is the asset of the country. Hundreds of people like him should be born for the future of the country to be bright."
