Sikkim Police safest, says CM


Gangtok, Jan 11 (IANS): There has been no communal incident in Sikkim in the 25-year rule of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) government, according to Chief Minister Pawan Chamlilng.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Police Composite building here, Chamling said Sikkim Police was the "safest police in India".

He said the border state has remained safe and peaceful, and it's the police personnel have also been well looked after.

However, he cautioned Sikkim police to be vigilant against those out to create unrest.

Chamling said ther was a need to send police personnel on study tours within the country and also abroad.

Dwelling on gender equality, Chamling said he would be happy to see a woman chief minister in Sikkim in future.
